100% telehealth • medication-focused care
A careful first step
When anxiety, depression, attention problems, mood changes, trauma symptoms, panic, OCD, or sleep difficulties interfere with daily life, a careful psychiatric evaluation can clarify what may be contributing and what to do next. Steven K. Elrod, MSN, PMHNP-BC, provides secure telehealth evaluations for adults, teens, and children ages 6 and older who are physically located in Washington, Utah, Kansas, Maryland, New Hampshire, Montana, Idaho, or Iowa during their appointment.

What a psychiatric evaluation reviews
- What you are experiencing, when it began, and how it affects school, work, sleep, relationships, and everyday functioning
- Medical and psychiatric history, current medications, allergies, and previous treatment
- Benefits, side effects, or problems with medications already tried
- Family, developmental, social, and substance-use history when relevant
- Safety concerns and whether a different or more intensive level of care is needed
- Your priorities, questions, and treatment preferences
What happens afterward
Depending on the findings, next steps may include education, additional records or testing, medication options, continued monitoring, collaboration with another clinician, psychotherapy elsewhere, or a recommendation for a different level of care. A first visit does not automatically result in a diagnosis or prescription. If medication is clinically appropriate, Steven will explain reasonable choices, expected benefits, meaningful risks, possible side effects, and alternatives.
Is telehealth appropriate?
You must be physically located in a state where Steven is authorized to practice during every appointment. SimplyCalm is not an emergency, crisis, detoxification, or inpatient service.
Frequently asked questions
Will I receive medication at the first visit?
