Meet Steven K. Elrod, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Steven provides medication-focused psychiatric care with clear explanations, careful monitoring, and respect for each patient’s goals, preferences, and concerns.
Psychiatric nurse practitioner
A Consistent Provider From Evaluation Through Follow-Up
Steven is an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with hospital and outpatient psychiatric-care experience. He evaluates psychiatric symptoms, discusses possible diagnoses, prescribes when clinically appropriate, and provides ongoing medication monitoring.
Steven is a PMHNP-BC—not a physician psychiatrist. His role, credentials, and scope are stated plainly so patients and families know who will provide their care.
What care feels like
Collaborative, Informed, and Individualized
Listen first
Start with symptoms, history, prior treatment, health considerations, daily functioning, and what you hope will improve.
Explain the choices
Review reasonable options, expected benefits, possible side effects, alternatives, and unanswered questions in straightforward language.
Monitor over time
Use follow-up visits to evaluate response, tolerability, safety, and whether the plan should remain the same or change.
A focused service
Medication Management Is the Primary Service
SimplyCalm provides psychiatric evaluation, prescribing, and ongoing medication management rather than weekly psychotherapy. Visits may include education, practical strategies, and brief supportive interventions when helpful. A separate therapist or a different level of care may be recommended when appropriate.
Where care is available
Secure Telehealth for Patients Ages 6+
Steven provides online care to eligible patients physically located in Washington, Utah, Kansas, Maryland, New Hampshire, Montana, Idaho, and Iowa during the appointment.
